the most important part is the metronome in smart tempo, otherwise you can’t fit into the slow parts. It is still a hard thing to get right, because those arpeggios requires being literate in texture vs voice leading. So i gave up using this , and started publishing what i can play…still using VSL .
And I think that, deep down, your last statement is what matters. Gonna get a listen to your channel! Cheers from Galicia 😊
Buenisimo! otro truco para que mis vecinos crean que soy un genio! Mercy mr. V! :-)
Now I want to see you try 😎
Sneaky 🙃
Con estos tips mis vecinos van a pensar que soy concertista!!! :-) muchas gracias hehe!
Pues ala, a tocar Liszt, hombre ! 😂
Your editing of the MIDI data has turned it into a beautiful performance, Vincent!👍 Your first performance is expressed in Japan as "If there is a hole, I want to go in and hide😁
Arigato gozaimasu, Eku-San ! All in all it haven't been easy to record 😅
Small hands AND bad technique! Definitely bad technique.
👍
One day I'll be able to play this !!! One... Day !
😳😳😳😍
😂😂😂👍
Good evening Vincent! It was a very good performance. And I just happened to pick up a Bösendorfer Upright on sale this month! It sounds very good and I like it☺
Ohaiyo Eku San, it's been a while! Glad you like the upright Bösi. I'm not partial, I'm a Bösendorfan. ☺
😄
The problem with recording at a slower tempo and then changing it back to its original faster tempo is that the dynamics drastically change 100% of the time. The performers dynamics will be greatly different when playing a composition at a slow tempo vs a fast tempo. This 'tip' goes as far back as the 80's and has never really caught on en masse, though it does have a few viable use cases in other areas. Keep up the great content as always, VSL! 👍
I’m hoping that muse score gets there someday. Finale is not intuitive but you can do it. I’m not sure MuseScore is featured enough yet.
We are big fans of Muse Score! ☺
Exactly what I have been waiting for!!!! You guys are amazing!
Thanks for this tutorial! 😊 Does your midi controller have a sustain pedal? Or is it something you added later?
Hi! My midi controller has the 3 pedals. ;-)
Strange how the VSL Synchron Piano player doesn’t indicate which piano is loaded
It indicates the preset in the up right corner, it gives you the choice when you open the Synchron Piano player to take the piano you'd like if you have several installed, and the piano image should be self explanatory enough :-)
@@vtohiercomposer9285 I did see the preset and while I see it’s an upright I don’t know which one it is. I liked its sound.
Normally, with a bigger display (and picture), you can clearly see the brand on the piano itself. :-) But on this video, I understand this is too small for anyone to see! And I'm sorry dear Ian if that is confusing and unhelpful for you. 🙏🏻
@@vtohiercomposer9285 yes on my phone it’s very small. Thank you for responding.
Fantastic development and work done here! And you can see the personal engagement of him on this! This is when humans want to make the best ever possible. Awesome work. Congratulations.
Hm... I am not that over-exited yet to hear this. Is the compressed version optional or are we forced to use the compressed version? What audio codec is used for this compression and which clock has been used for this conversion and what do you refer to by "lossless"? LossLess is a marketing term and is used for audio compression "which is almost not to hear" created by smart codecs like flag. But still, it is compression of data and mastering engineers would maybe argue that they can hear it. Same goes for cables etc. Can not really think of it been used professionally. And audio compression becomes an issue with very fast quick attacks, multiple voices and fades. Take Liszt La Campanella as example. Especially classical music requires high resolution audio recordings. I am still not exited yet until I know more about it.
The compression version is optional, and if you do update to the compressed version and don't like it, the Vienna Assistant has a roll back option to allow you to re-install the non-compressed version. As far as your questions and comments regarding quality loss, for the exact reasons you pointed out, I was also apprehensive to updating. I have 7 of the 9 Synchron Pianos myself, and have updated all of the pianos that were recorded in Studio B, but have left the 4 recorded in Studio A (main stage) untouched/not updated as of yet. I did a little test prior to updating; recorded myself playing on my MIDI keyboard into Logic, using the Bluthner Piano bounced the track BEFORE updating. Updated the Bluthner, then using the exact same MIDI file, re-bounced the track. I uploaded both audio files and set them side by side and there is a very slight difference in file size as well as waveform, though that does not mean very much. I will say that listening to both tracks (the before and after) I could not tell the difference with my ear. That is just my take, but I would be curious as to the specific points you have mentioned.
@@kevin_polson What a wonderful reply! Thanks for your detailed thoughts on this. This was very helpful and is very much appreciated. I will look if/when me or other studios/friends around me have the chance to compare them in a mastering environment so that I can give back some insides and findings they have pulled on this. It will surely be rather more on the analytical side of mastering regarding different results, but who knows. Interesting would be how it affects analog summing. If it is audible at minimum I am sure some the well equipped mastering ears of some around me here will detect it and I will come back on this. Have a wonderful weekend.
Far too much room reflections and reverb smearing over the whole audio. This almost blurs the perlage of the runs and its single note starts when the hammer hits. Something which is the very most important part on fast runs, otherwise a piano would became a shallow synth pad on a fast run. I hope it is possible to turn this room off?
Beatiful piece!!! Well, well done!! Liszt forever!!
Hiya Alex! Thank you for commenting! Hope you're doing well, friend! 💪
Sorry guys. I still didn't get the Campanella. Hope you liked the video tho! 💙
You folks are simply the best!
What’s the name of this piece at 4:20
What’s the name of Bach piece at 3:20? It’s beautiful
It's June 2024 now. I hope you're still reading these. I wasn't expecting a refresher lesson on orchestration and voicing. Thanks.
Is it got half pedaling feature?
Yes. You can also control the half pedal range in the player to adjust it to your physical pedal.
I'm going through each of these videos, playing the audio through my stereo system. You know it is an excellent sounding software piano. My questions are: - How many different pianists did you use for the demos? - What was the midi keyboard controller that they played for recording all of this music? - And did they all play the same keyboard?
Hi @pianodon, in this video, it's Guy Bacos and Nicholas DeCrescent playing. I think that Guy used his ancient Roland master keyboard back then, and Nicholas is usually also using Roland controllers. MIDI keyboards are always a bit of a personal choice. Usually, a good pianist can adapt to any keyboard. - Paul
Vienna has the crappiest download servers. Takes FOREVER to download updates. Just ridiculous.
It depends on your physical location and the ISP routes. In most of Europe you should be able to download software with ~300-500Mbit/s, libraries with up to 1Gbit. In North America software can be a bit slower, but should still be more than reasonable. - Ben
Thanks for this very helpful video. Just a question at 1.36 min you show the output setup, however the output numbers do not correspond with the default numbers for Atmos for each stereo pair in the present version of Logic (11.x.). Does this matter for binaural listening. I assume that output1/2 is stereo 1, 3/4 stereo 2 etc. So there might be issues if the stereo pairs defined in the SY player do not correspond with the locations in the Atmos default.
280vc is my all time favourite❤
awesome video and great playing wow :) i have the Fazioli F212 would you say the Bluethner 1895 would be a good expansion ? :)
Hmm! It depends on the type of contrasting sound you are seeking. Blüthner is a good choice, but the D-274 will give you a different kind of contrast which can also compliment the F212.
@@guybacos i find your mention of that special strings int he Blüthner intriging hahah :D
I think the Imperial 290 actually sounds most like a typical professional piano recording (not speaking about the default preset's left stage positioning, rather the overall tone) and the others are mostly fun to play because you can hear everything you're doing. Your preferences are that way and not about trying to sound like a commercial recording. The big Fazioli is nice and better than most I've heard. If the Steinway was recorded more like the Imperial (yes you will say they were identical recordings by a robot, but still) then it would really be a standard sound because nearly everything you hear is a D and not just because Steinway enforces on it, but because that's the most balanced sound with the broadest range. I wince at how many prefer the CFX, maybe for pop music OK, the 280 may be even better for pop. It's hard to crank a decent recording out of a CFX, as in, strong emotional transfer. Half the price for a reason (the piano, not the sample). I got the Steinway light with SE1, the Imperial Std and the Bosey upright for a more distant sort of intimate cinematic moment accompaniment, not for showing off. VSL need to redo the sympathetic resonance model by the way, I see they always turn it off, I turn it back on but it could be a lot better. The lack of good resonance makes all these pianos seem empty and static on the sustains which is the primary issue with them. Demos that throw too many notes at us obscure this. It's nice VSL sometimes offer demo licenses and refunds.
What a great video but why didn’t you mention jazz music? Cryyyyyyy
True, should have added that in. No audio example here but I'd say D-274, Yamaha and Fazioli are pretty good for jazz.
280VC needed more love. I produced a prog metal album with it.
Why there is no Bosendorfer on the list? 🥲 my bad it was until the end but as a 2nd option 🫣
Cher Guy. For a long time the D-274 has been my beloved sweetheart, and now, I'm discovering the CFX, making its way into my pianistic heart ...! Merci. It is a necessary video. 🎉
Excellent and helpful video! Well done.
VSL por suscripción mensual o anual. Para cuando?
Hopefully never! I'd prefer the a rent-to-own option or split payments as opposed to a subscription system where you don't ever own the product.
Incredible video editing! 🎉
Thanks!😊
Where did you get the score?
Mainly by ear transcription, and with some free online piano and band scores.
@@markbatuer Yes, I can see the strings, brass, and percussion are quite clear. But the woodwinds seem harder to distinguish. I'll check the original and see if I can pick them out with my ear. Excellent job. Perhaps I'll start doing the same for scores that have a reasonable level of separation of the major orchestral groups. You gave the score to Yang Tao and he did the mockup?
Great teaser walk-through my friend! I have these libraries and you just opened up my eyes to their real potential. Even though we use different DAWs makes me wonder how big of a Template & Instances you had setup in VEP? Nice trick with Andromeda! I am going to have to try that myself. Thank you for the video and inspiration to duplicate (with my own imagination) what I just watched. 🙂
Amazing work! And incredible video editing.
